Rox and Tulowitzki agree to big deal

One of the best rookies in the MLB, Troy Tulowitzki agrred to a huge 6 year 30 million deal. this is the biggest deal ever to a player with less than 2 years of expirience. He had amazing numbers this past year with a .291 batting avg, 24 hr, and 99 RBIs. Was a great defencive player at short stop also. If he continyes to play with a year like 06 every year. He will certaintl be a hall of famer. This coming the day after the rockies also signed their other star Matt Holliday. The rockies GM is doing his job perfect right now by gett ing the guys he needs to get back to have another year like the rockies had in 07. They lost a star at second because they lost Kaz Matsui but theyve been getting other guys back that they need to. They definitely have a lot of potential for 08.

The Rockies and Matt Holliday have come to terms earlier today for a 2 year $23 Million dollar contract. He had an amazing 2007 season and i thought he would win MVP but he didnt. In 2007 he had a .340 batting average, 36 homeruns and 137 RBIs. All of those were career highs for Holliday. He also scored the winning run in the 1-game playoff. He was by far the best player on the Rockies in the Playoffs. He is a Power hitter that can also hit for an average. he has only been in the bigs for 4 years, but he is in at least the top 5 in outfielders. no wonder why this rockies team went to the world series when no one expected them too. They have amazing stars. If the rockies are ablr to hold on to theirs stars, dont be surprised if the rockies make it to the play-offs again. The Rockies could be the team to beat in 2008.

Rays lock up Pena and Kazmir

Hours ago, the Rays were able to lock up their 2 biggest stars, Scott Kazmir and Carlos Pena. Pena’s deal was a three year deal which will keep him a ray until 2010. His three year deal was worth $24.125 million. Scoot Kazimir, who is the Rays ace also was given a deal. This one being for one year which kazmir will be making $3.785 Million. I really think with the team the rays are beginnig to put together, they can be a 4th place team very soon instead of ending in last again. Scott Kaxmir with his great stuff, always getting an ERA under 4, and Pena whith his amazing power blasting another 46 homeruns along with the other rays newest power hitter Cliff Floyd. A career high, and the year before in 06, the Red Sox cut him because they didnt think he was good enough. Now look what the rays got from him. Dont forget you have great speed on the team including one of the fastest in MLB, Carl Crawford. With all this talent, the rays can easily pull ahead in the standings.

Rangers Hope Jennings can bounce back from injury-played 07

The Rangers hope to see a normal Jason Jennings in the 08 season. The rangers have watched him play and like some of the numbers he put up in past years. He is a good starter in which the rangers hope he can help them. He isnt a good ERA pitcher but in 06, he pitched the best year with a career low 3.78 ERA. Last year he was injured and didn’t get a chance to bounce back from a bad start. In only 19 games (18 started) Jennings had a 2-9 record with a 6.45 ERA. The rangers and Jennings hope to forget that season and remember the 06 season. The rangers and Jennings want the 06 Jason Jennings who was only 9-13 because he didn’t get a lot of run support, but he still posted a great ERA of 3.78. The rangers hope to give him a little more run support than he got from the Rockies in 06 so he can have a better record and a good ERA that would help the Rangers move a little higher in the standings. If you look into the AL west, you can’t reall predict how it will end up. This is one of the only divisions where you can’t do that because some years the A’s are good and some years the Angels are good but the mariners and rangers are usually toward the bottom of the standings except for this past season where the mariners had a good run. Other than that the rangers hope to move past the M’s and end in 3rd instead of last 4th again and getting a decent starter like Jennings was a good move by rhe rengers.

Nate Robertson to remain a Tiger through 2010

Earlier today, Nate robertson and the Tigers agreed on a 3 year, 21.25 million dollar deal that would keep robetson a tiger through 2010. Last year, Robertson posted a 9-13 record with a 4.76 ERA. In 06, robertson had the best year of his career with a 13-13 record and a career low 3.84 ERA. Other than that he is not very effective. In his 6 years he only had 1 year with an ERA under 4.48 which is his second lowest ERA. He is a decent 4th starter but i would never put him above that. This year their rotation is very strong with the D-train (Dontrelle Willis) as the #1 starter. then you have verlander aa second starter. #3 is Bonderman and 4th is Nate Robertson and the #5 spot will be held by Kenny Rogers.

Lieber back to Cubs

The Cubs take a step in the right direction by signing Jon Lieber to a 1-year, 3.5 million dollar deal. Lieber played for the cubs in the windy city from 1999 to 2002. He had his only 20 win season in 2001 as a cub. That season he went 20-6 with a 3.80 ERA. He makes a good back of the rotation guy. He is a former Yankee and played for the Phillies the last three seasons. Jon Lieber had some of his best years as a cub. The cubs know their getting a solid starter and the cubs hope he might be able to have another 20-win season, something he only did once in his 13 seasons.

Glaus-Rolen trade official

it’s a done deal. the toronto blues jays and cardianals have officially traded third basemen. Scott Rolen is a Blue Jay and Troy Glaus is a Cardinal. The blue Jays clearly get the better end of this deal. Blue Jays have already become a great team, building their talent and Rolen will just make it better. The Blue Jays are certaintly on their way to a 2nd and maybe 1st place team but as long as the Yankees and Red Sox have all the stars they have, it wont happen any time soon. Also, Rolen wasnt named in the Mitchell Report, Glaus was. Rolen can hit for decent power and good-great averages. Glaus can hit for great power but an awful average. If the Cardinals were trying to build for an 08 championship, they took a step backwards with this trade.

Santana trade not likely

finally steinburner realizes that he shouldnt trade the gifted young talen. at first i wanted the trade done, then i thought that we need young stars to last us a while and that we shouldnt be trading great pitching prospects. Santana wouldve been nice but to trade melky and hughes for him. NO WAY!! we need our defencive CF and hughes. we rely on them. With them on the 08 squad along with Joba and Kennedy, there should be no worries. More good news, the red sox have supposively backed out as well leaving the Mets who are gaining fast. They are gaining but i dont think there will be a trade there either. It looks like Santana will spend his 08 season as a Twin.

Glaus-Rolen deal near completion

If you didnt hear already, there was a trade offer that would swap 3rd basemans. This trade would make Scott Rolen a blue jay and Troy glause a cardinal. I think this trade favors the blue jays more because even though glaus has more power, Rolen can hit for better average and does have decent powe. So to me, the Jays look like their getting a better 3rd baseman. In the 07 season, Glause hit .262 with 20 hr and 62 RBI. Dont forget that Glaus did have a great power year in 06 with 38 hr and 104 rbi while only hitting .252 that year. Rolen in 07 had .265 avg. with 8 hr and 58 rbi. Rolen had a great year in 06 hitting .296 , he usually hits in the 290s and above range. which is why 07 was a down year for him. Glaus Career numbers- 277 hr–778 rbi–and a .254 avg. Rolens career numbers – .283 avg–261 hr–1012 Rbi. Rolen played 2 more years than glaus. In those 2 years, rolen averaged a .268 avg. He had a total of 24 hr and 110 RBI those first 2 years.
